As a young girl, Cricket would sing into a hairbrush pretending to have an audience, when in reality, she would sing to dolls and family members. She began playing the piano in the second grade and would constantly be called on at family reunions and special events to play and sing for whoever would listen. She recruited her mom and brother to sing with her since they were the ones calling on her to "show-off" what she had learned that week.
In junior high school, she played the piano during Sunday school assembly, for Ronnie Brown, at First Free Will Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. There she became involved singing in a girls group preparing for state competition under the direction of Terry and Lynn Seymour. Her love for music continued to grow and God began to draw her to a new experience, a place of ministry.
Her favorite setting for ministry is in women's conferences, retreats and revivals. For seven years, she served as Hostess and Cruise Coordinator for The Lady Anderson Gospel Dinner Cruise in Panama City, Florida. Cricket serves on the Board of Directors of the Emerald Coast Southern Gospel Music Association and coordinates gospel concerts around the tri-state area.
Cricket Lee has dedicated herself to serve God in a personal relationship and in service to others. Her desire is to use the talents God has given her to reach the lost, hurting and needy, and to affect a change in them that will last through all eternity.
Cricket has recorded several albums filled with songs of hope and inspiration that she prays will be a blessing to all who hear. The latest recording, "The Sparrow", Features songs written by such writers as Phil Cross, Sandy Knight, John Lemonis, Marty Funderburk, and Big Mo, just to name a few. On the title cut, The Sparrow, Tony Gore shares the microphone with Cricket in a beautiful duet. This is her latest single to radio. Another cut, "King David Sings Southern Gospel", features the background vocals of The Downeast Boys.
Cricket and her husband Dennis are members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama.
